Suddenly I am curious! Do you know more than one? If so, how did you learn? What was it like?
If not, is there another one that you want to know?
(Personally, I'm trying to decide between French, Spanish or Japanese for my next language... whenever I eventually have time to study. Quelle dificil giketsu!) _________________ "The one concession a sane man will never yield the universe is that of considering it seriously."

I forget languages faster than I learn them. I do have an uncanny ability to pronounce French words correctly the first time I see them.

Technically I only speak English, but I know enough French and German to get slapped and I can be extremely foul-mouthed in about six languages that I can't speak a single polite word in. _________________ Gryphons are better than dragons. Gryphons PURR. |

I speak Finnish, Swedish, and English, and understand Norweigan and written Danish (spoken Danish sounds mostly like gobleygook to me).
I guess Finnish would technically be my first language, but my vocabulary is actually pretty bad since I don't have many opportunities to practice beyond yes and no kind of stuff at momma's house.
It's still the only language I can speak without a rather heavy accent, though. I can express myself best in English, but I sound like a goddamn race car driver when speaking it _________________ http://creepybob.deviantart.com (Warning: Contains Horrors) |

I took four years of French in high school, mostly because the teacher was really interesting. She was in the Peace Corps and lived abroad in France, Morocco and Russia, and told lots of good stories (including one about a hashish deal in Morocco with her boyfriend, lol).
That's the language I've learned the most. Plus some Spanish, since I live in Tucson, AZ. |

I learned the basics of Spanish but I still couldn't speak it to save my life and I've forgotten most of it since Jr. High School. Soo, I put more of my time into better understanding English so that I can use my advanced vocabulary and talk to the smarter people. I was very pleased when I disproved my sisters four syllable rule.
Basically if the word was more than four syllables she claimed she had a valid reason for not knowing it's meaning. So of course she knew what qualms were right?
Let's just say sometimes she really hates talking with me now, because I know how to get around the four syllable rule very proficiently. |

I speak English, Spanish, Norwegian, and a language my brother and I made up called Nosenlenga. However, I'm a bit rusty in three of them and always required people to speak it slowly. Heck, I never learned how to understand Spanish when it's not spoken in a midwestern accent. _________________ http://alienlife.thecomicseries.com/
