Also, I explained to my friend the actual reason for Mako's name, and she declared she had to go and drown herself in pillows from shame. Now look what you people did. _________________ "“If the English language made any sense, lackadaisical would have something to do with a shortage of flowers.”

INTRIGUING.
Could a very powerful waterbender learn chibending? Or perhaps just figure out something that achieves a similar effect with bloodbending? After all, when Amon took away people's bending, there didn't seem to be any glowing eyes and pyrotechnics like we saw when Aang did it. Despite what he says, Amon might not be doing the same thing at all.
Speaking of bloodbending, I wonder if that ability is also more commonplace now, like lightning and metalbending. If it isn't a forbidden practice, it might be a handy skill for doctors!
P.S. Ditto to Amarath's entire post. SQUEE. _________________ "The one concession a sane man will never yield the universe is that of considering it seriously."

A chi bender is temporary. As was said in the original series that the effects wear off in a couple of hours.
If you recall the Guru episode he warned Aang to not block his chakras or he would never be able to enter the avatar state. Which was true until he unblocked his chakra.
My guess Amon is using a form of chakra blocking mixed with chi blocking. Which is why you didn't see the same effect that Aang had when he took away the fire lord's fire bending. If you also noticed Aang was completely drained from the effect and was not really able to do much afterwards. Amon was able to continue on.
Could Amon be Councilor Tarlock? Possible I guess. Both individuals were very nimble. We saw Tarlock was very agile when he attacked those chi benders. He also was able to know where the chi benders were. Something Amon would have access to. He also wears a mask so it's possible his own group does not know his identity. And when there are no more benders around, the person with all the power would be the last bender left.
Though, I am still curious to know where the fire nation plays into this. We have not seen much from Zuko's neck of the woods.
Is blood bending more commonplace? Possible. I doubt Katara may of shown it to anyone, but in her rage it may of been possible it slipped out. And in doing so it may of inadvertently be taught to another. After all Katara learned it after knowing it existed. Or the creator of the bloodbending got another apprentice.
This new series is definitely more high paced then the original. Probably because it is really short series. |

Today's episode was fantastic. This show has had top notch writing. Which isn't surprising as the creators have been doing all the writing. The original the creators did not write many of the shows and let other writers work on it. This show has been all them.
Fantastic nod and shout out to the original show. I will not spoil it in this thread of spoilers until it has been seen.
I must say I love the shows underline message of religion vs modernism that is prevalent in this show. The underlying east vs west message that is there. With religion(east) vs technology(west). Of how the old religion(bending) is losing steam and power, literally, to the west and their technology. It will be interesting to see how this all pans out and has definitely got me hooked into this show and dread waiting for the next one to come out. It does stink a little that they stopped showing previews of the next show. Which is good as it gives no spoilers. |

I KNEW Asami's dad is an equalist! XD
Also, it looks like Asami and Korra will be friends which is AWESOME!!!
Also I like that episode 7 doesn't feel as rushed as the other episodes. _________________ It doesn't matter what skin color you are, all humans have the same guts and blood on the inside. Unless there's something wrong with your liver or something like that. You all taste horrible, too. |

Today's episode was fantastic... Minus, the kids. I'm not big on the kids in this show. The show really has me hooked and has me waiting for the next chapter. |

I do not sleep. I WAIT.
Also Tarlock is totaly working for the equalists. He's been giving people a reason to join Amon, and the police didn't even try to catch those chi- blockers. _________________ It doesn't matter what skin color you are, all humans have the same guts and blood on the inside. Yea, it looks like the flashbacks show Tarlock and Aang/Toph at some sort of trial.
I would like to know more of the original cast as this show seems to focus more on Toph's family and some of Aang's. Not the rest of his kids. |

Hurraaay, they finally confirmed what we all suspected all along: that Tarlock is a total power-hungry nutball! =D Brilliant that they made him a bloodbender. Also, I am POSITIVE now that Tarlock is Amon. When he was talkign to Korra, his voice even went really deep, and while I can't specifically remember what Amon's voice sounds like now because it's been a few weeks since his last episode appearance, I have a very strong suspicion that that was a clue for the wary. Also, the fact that he can bloodbend not during a full moon, AND the fact that in Korra's vision we see someone who is pretty obviously Tarlock EVEN THOUGH THAT WAS LIKE FORTY YEARS AGO, adds to my suspicion that Tarlock and Amon are much more than they appear. How could he have the same face after so long?
(Perhaps whoever proposed that idea of the one Facestealer guy had something going after all...)
One of my theories is that by stealing other peoples' bending powers, he somehow strengthens his own. Or he's just an unnaturally strong bender for some reason, which would explain his ability to energybend. We shall see.
Also, I love the cliffhanger. These last two episodes have been much better paced, and it's way exciting that we're finally getting into the REALLY juicy stuff! :D
And yay for Asami not being evil! _________________ "“If the English language made any sense, lackadaisical would have something to do with a shortage of flowers.”
