Here are my thoughts on Star Wars 7.

There were a lot of jokes, and they were better than the jokes in the old movies.
Minority and female characters held more prominent roles than in the previous movies.

The story line was extremely similar to the original one.
Kylo Ren came across as weak and unable to control himself. I found Kylo interesting, as a combination of traits of young Anakin and older Darth Vader, but he just wasn't compelling as the primary villain. his wouldn't have been such an issue if the other villain were fleshed out more.

Yes, it was good to see a strong female character, and a minority have more screen presence. Is it possible that Finn is Lando's kid?

I can agree that Ren was not a strong enough character or compelling enough like Vader was. Obviously his story is basically the same. Good, to bad, to eventually redeem himself. Yawn.

The big questions that we really want to know is, is Rey Luke's child?

That's certainly my biggest question. It's the most obvious possibility. For a while, I was trying to figure out whether Rey was Leia and Han's kid, but as the movie went on, it became increasingly likely that she's Luke's. I have other questions too. I'm curious about the relationship between the First Order, the New Republic, and the Resistance, and just what the First Order is. Star Wars traditionally has only one nation controlling the whole galaxy, be it the Empire or the Old Republic. But for there to be a resistance that's allied with the New Republic against the First Order, that strongly implies that the First Order and the Republic are two separate nations, rather than the First Order being a group fighting a rebellion against the New Republic. Whatever it is, it's slightly more complex than Star Wars' usual single galactic government and single group of rebels fighting against it. I really wish they'd clarified what it is.
And there's another huge thing that they barely touched on, and left me confused. When the First Order guys talked about their new, bigger Death Star, they said it was going to destroy the capital of the Republic soon. Then the bigger Death Star shot a few laser beams into space and seemed to blow up some place. It wasn't clear if this was the capital planet that was blown up, or if they blew up some other place and were planning to attack the capitol world later. The weird thing is that this wasn't even mentioned again during the whole movie, even though it clearly was supposed to be a major plot point. It left me really confused.

It certainly is possible that Finn is Lando's kid. I hope he isn't. I don't think we need another offspring character carrying on an established character's legacy. Kylo is one such character. Rey probably is. I don't see a way the story would work if she didn't inherit her super force powers from somebody in the story. I'd prefer that Finn be unrelated to anyone we've seen before. That said, I do hope they show that his parents had an interesting story of their own.

Definitely looking forward to it!

I sure hope That One Guy lives through it. Because "Hero's Mentor and Possibly Father" is like the worst conceivable job description in this type of story.
"The one concession a sane man will never yield the universe is that of considering it seriously."
