Sometimes Magic Sounds Like Tape

Rowan and Alysandir

For Drake! A heroine and her bodyguard, celebrating an adventure well accomplished:

Rowan and Alysandir

This was a challenging but very satisfying commission. (I learned at least two or three new coloring/texturing techniques in the process, too.)

Alas, most of the detail is invisible at screen resolution. But it looks good at printable size, where it counts!

(And in case you were wondering about the scene in the background: the heroine wields ice magic.)

Want some custom art of your very own? Feel free to request a commission!

Agreed. I absolutely love this scene. It’s so freakin’ fantastic!! Dragons, and Heroes, and Knight’s in Shining Armor!! *sigh* (melt)

  3. KitFang Says:

Lovely! I especially like the dragons here and the steam/smoke coming off the shield is a great touch.

I love the textures on their outfits. It really gives that metal that extra grit.

Arent’ they cute frolicking off together? I think so. :D

  5. Zela Says:

    That is an AWESOME picture.

…I like how his shield is steaming. :D

    Thank you, guys. :D

I’m glad the various materials turned out well. This is the first time I’ve really done much with textures. (It turns out they help more than expected!)

That looks flippin’ awesome! I love the knight’s armor, and the fire-breathing dragon trapped in ice in the background. But is the mission REALLY a success? The dragon might melt himself out eventually!

The heroine’s outfit is a wee bit unpractical, but I like the shoulder dragon. And both chars have awesome hairs. (Yes, I wrote hairs. I’m sorry, I had to make it rhyme. Let not the grammer stand in the way of poetry! *dramatic pose*)

  8. Aja Says:

Thanks! :) …Could be. We can only hope that they find someplace dragon-proof to hide before then.

(Indeed. Though she was a bard, so I gather her costume was designed more for performing than for adventuring.)

Yes, the heroine is both a wizard and travelling entertainer. And she has her bodyguard to keep her “over-devoted” fans at bay…
