Sometimes Magic Sounds Like Tape

DC Superhireau

Just started reading The DC Comics Guide to Digitally Drawing Comics, and did one of the practice exercises. Split infinitives aside, so far it’s an excellent book! The author’s digital workflow is very smooth and efficient, and I want to incorporate some of it into my own comic-making routine. However…

I don’t think I’ll go so far as to start inking the comic again. XD I’d forgotten how long that takes. (Though alas, I do enjoy it.) ♥

Ooo, a book for helping with digital work? I will definitely have to check that out…

::blink:: Woah, Henson…you’re lookin’ a little Conan the Barbarian there. XD I am envious of the inking skills though…I can never commit to such bold shadows…I’m too afraid of them, I think. :(

Haha… he is, isn’t he. XD Henson the Barbarian crushes his enemies, sees them driven before him, and hears the lamentations of the women… who are horrified at the size of his chin.

Figured I’d get into the spirit of the book and try out a similar style. :D Not to worry; I probably won’t be making a habit of that, either.

Bold shadows are intimidating, but you just have to intimidate them right back. Especially if you keep them on their own layer, where they can’t actually ruin your drawing (permanently), it’s much easier to show ‘em who’s boss. I’m sure you could do it.

And indeed, give the book a look! It has some very handy tips so far~

…I am struck by the sudden desire to see Henson in a furry loincloth and saber-something-tooth necklace… I blame you for this. XD

Layers are marvelous things, aren’t they? Sadly, I fear I may love them (and therefore use them) entirely too much. I’m learning to consolidate though! Honest! heh…heh…
